The Power of Ferments: Inside and Outside of the Body

Ferments are a powerful tool in taking care of the mind, body, and soul. Working from inside the body to restore balance, ferments aid in clearing the skin, keeping our bodies healthy, and boosting the mood.

The digestive system and brain work together to balance our mood and emotions, with researchers designating this as our "second brain". Irritation in the gastrointestinal system sends signals to the central nervous system to trigger mood changes, which may explain the connection between digestive issues and anxiety and depression.

So what does this have to do with the base of our products? Historically, food was fermented as a means of preservation, dating back to some of the earliest civilizations. Ferments found in foods such as kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut, and miso provide support to the digestive system, assisting in the natural biome of gut health. Ferments have natural anti-microbial properties, keeping the body healthy and warding off common gut pathogens. Probiotic elements help the body reduce inflammation and boost immunity, resulting in a powerful addition to any diet.

For an extra boost to your health and mood, try sipping on some kombucha, or including a fermented vegetable with a meal. The wonders of ferments help us take care of our bodies inside and out. We include ferments in our products to boost our skin's natural biome, similar to the way that consuming ferments builds our gut's natural biome.

Everything we produce is alive with our Vinoflora base. This special ferment is sourced from local botanicals, or grown ourselves. Once mature, the botanicals are combined with wine skins and seeds from El Corazon Winery, and fermented for 18-24 months, creating a powerful base rich in antioxidants, and alive with a rich biome to protect the skin.

At Sloane Marley, we aim to encourage wellbeing inside and outside. Care for the body, mind, and soul is at the foundation of all we do. Join us for our weekly newsletter and follow us on Instagram for your guide to wellbeing.
