Most dry skin is caused by environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, environmental toxins, and chemical irritants.
Typically, even the symptoms of diagnosed skin disorders can be treated and healed with the right ingredients from nature.
I tend to have very sensitive skin and my hands crack around the fingernails and at the knuckles with even one use of some sorts of commercially produced soaps. My knuckles will crack to a state of bleeding and my heels will get open skin fissures (deep bleeding cracks) when the weather is very hot and dry.
The creation of LAGA started as self defense for myself and for my kids. I needed a balm that would leave my hands with a healthy waterproof coat that would last between washing.
Most commercial products touted for sensitive and painful skin contain mineral oil. In creating LAGA, I learned that mineral oil creates an impermeable barrier between skin and the outside world, which suffocates the skin and doesn't allow it to breathe or heal. Since skin is our biggest organ, this is a big problem. Mineral oil is present in almost every product promoted by dermatologists for conditions like eczema and shingles, and it is in very popular products like baby lotion. It can be extremely damaging to infant skin.
In our family, LAGA is a staple. We use it for lips, hands, elbows and feet. We use it over scabs and minor burns for healing. My kids have a dry skin condition called keratosis which produces bumps all over their upper arms and can create scarring if the bumps are picked or squeezed. With exfoliation and use of LAGA and KLAR, my girls stay "bump free". LAGA is excellent for winter noses sore from colds and as a replacement for mineral oil based diaper rash cream. It's an amazing option for people who have to wash their hands a lot like healthcare workers, teachers, and parents of young children. It's a great barrier for skin paired with sunscreen to protect against windburn for cyclists and skiiers.
More than anything, LAGA works. I use it daily and it soaks into my hands before I have to spend hours at the computer doing paperwork or creating products and getting my hands wet. The smell of rosemary, lavender, lemon, bergamot and vanilla is relaxing and soothing and the gentle coat of shea butter and cocoa butter and beeswax left on the skin soothes in a way I cannot really explain. The fruit juice ferment we use in all of our products adds resveratrol to this product helping it to heal and repair instead of just coating and soothing.
Those who use this product say they breathe a deep sigh of relief when they use it and that their skin is healthier than it's ever been before, not catching on fabric or stinging with wash and use.
